極簡主義運動與攝影
50~60年代初期的藝術主流為抽象表現主義,但藝術家們紛紛的放棄了他們覺得過於陳腐和學術的近代藝術,因此極簡主義運動開始萌芽,此藝術派系因而產生,這是他們作為對於抽象主義的反响和爭議,開始以物體本身最原始的形式來表達藝術 。這也導致很多年輕的藝術家對於多數傳統媒體的觀點有所衝擊經過這波新浪潮,年輕藝術家們紛紛放棄了所有不必要的形式和技法,他們開始放棄抽象主義,以沒有任何註解的方式來表達作品,畫家和雕塑家們(特別是在紐約)不再強調情感內容和明顯的象徵,而是專注極簡主義的呈現,因而得到無主題的奧妙效果,讓觀看者可以純粹的感受到物體本身的存在感。
The Minimalism movement emerged as a reaction to the abstract expressionism of the 1950s and early 1960s. Artists were self-consciously renouncing recent art that they found to be stale and academic. This led many young artists to question conventional boundaries between various medias. Through a wave of new influences, many young artists quickly abandoned all unnecessary forms and gestures from their work. They emphasized anonymity over the expressive excess of abstract Expressionism. Painters and sculptors (especially in New York) avoided overt symbolism and emotional content but instead focused on radical simplification of forms to gain the effect of anonymous subtlety and its presence.
不幸的是,攝影在那個時期並不被認為是藝術。當攝影剛發跡時,攝影師們長期面臨著對於攝影並不是藝術的偏見(即使到現在,仍然存有對攝影是否為藝術的質疑)。極簡主義的誕生巧妙的被一些攝影學校所重視並接受,並且將他擴展到各種攝影領域。
Unfortunately, photography was not considered as art in that period. When photography was first invented, photographers faced a long struggle to be considered as fine art (till now, there still exists some skeptic criticism towards photography). The coincidence of the birth of Minimalism led to this movement being accepted by some photography schools, expanding its presence to the border of every genre of photography.
最重要的是,在極簡攝影的世界裡“少即是多” Most importantly, in the world of minimal photography ‘Less is more’.

In this kind of photography , details are easily noticed since viewers explore the photo due to not crowded composition ,just needs smallest thing to create a visually beautiful photo . This kind of photography owes to instantaneous responses . Storytelling fades and philosophical interpretations of relation reach their lowest level . And subjectivity dominate the whole scene and the moment .when dealing with minimalism it’s important to understand the relationship between subject and viewer , light and shadow .
